Natural Dyes in Northeast America Conference
I recently had the privilege of presenting at this conference on the dye plant farming trials I coordinate on Unama’ki/Cape Breton Island. The presentation can be found here.
There are a number of wonderful presentations and online exhibits in this conference. Please take some time to check them out. You can find them all from the conference home page here.
One of the conference presentations, on analysis of how much mordant is actually taken up by fibres (or left behind in the mordant bath) has spawned a collaborative group experiment in the Natural Dye Education FB Group I manage. If you’re not already a member, and would like to be a part of our citizen science projects, and share information and inspiration with natural colour charmers around the globe, you can join us here.
Thanks so much to the conference organizers, who did such a marvellous job - first, organizing an in-person conference in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and then, when the global pandemic required that it be cancelled, made the whole conference available online for free.
